For 20 pounds, I’d have found it acceptable and wouldn’t be writing this negative review. But they wanted 50 pounds for a 10-bed dorm, which is ridiculous. The room is cramped and feels like a prison. The toilet doesn’t seem to flush properly, leaving you faced with unpleasant sights, and there’s no kitchen to avoid the city’s exorbitant prices. You can’t open the windows either. It was a miserable stay. Next time I’ll pay 20 pounds more for a hotel room, and I’ll avoid this dump.

Seth made my stay. He’s naturally friendly, kind-hearted and relaxed, and being around him made the whole place feel better, with no stress or fuss. The atmosphere is great, and there’s a discount at Belushi’s downstairs. The rooms were clean, security was tight, and the staff were top-tier. St Christopher’s Inn is a great base in Edinburgh if you want quality without spending a fortune. The location is spot on, just a stone’s throw from Waverley station and right in the Old Town, so the best parts of the city are only a few minutes away on foot. Absolute class.

The room was clean and the heating worked well, and check-in was quick and easy with reception open all night. The hotel is right by the train station in the city centre, and the price is very reasonable. There’s a little cafe with board games and a big, busy bar, plus breakfast for £6. My only real issue was the noise from neighbours. It would help to remind guests to keep it down at night. The common room also had bad ventilation and smelled strongly of sweat.

We were there for two nights and had a nice stay. The location made it easy to explore the city on foot, and the staff were lovely, helpful and kind. You can borrow towels, pick up free shampoo and body soap in the lobby, and buy padlocks and other bits. The rooms could use a lot more cleaning, and guests should respect the beds and lockers assigned to them. The bathrooms could be cleaner too, though I suspect that’s down to the people staying there rather than the cleaning staff. Some toilet flushes didn’t work properly.

The toilets were really clean, and the first day went well. On the second, a group of teenagers kept slamming doors, screaming and whistling. I had to report it to reception three times before it was sorted.
