Staff were lovely and helpful, which made the stay even nicer. The hotel is right by Haymarket station and the restaurants around it. Our room was clean, well kept, pleasant, and had a large shower. It may feel a bit expensive depending on your budget, but Edinburgh can seem predatory at times and this place didn't. I'd recommend breakfast too. It was excellent, with enough on the menu to try different things during your stay.

I've always enjoyed staying here. The staff are welcoming and the service is excellent. Rooms are pleasant, with very comfortable beds and tea and coffee, and the bathrooms have good showers. The bar and breakfast area has plenty of seats and nice decor. It's also a handy base for trams, trains or buses into central Edinburgh, to the airport or to Leith.

The rooms are spacious, well decorated and kept in good shape. There isn't a lift, so if you're on the third floor by North American counting, take your time and pack light. No one was available to carry our bags, though I'm sure we could've gotten help if we'd waited. It's just outside the town centre, close to Haymarket train station.

Our lower-floor bedroom at Haymarket Hotel was clean, roomy and welcoming, with a huge bathroom and all the comforts we needed. I know some reviews criticize this room, but we had a great experience, and there was even a powerful hair dryer, which is rare. We stayed four nights and had breakfast. The cooked breakfast was amazing and traditional, with something for everyone, so I recommend it. The hotel is close to the city centre and well served by trams and buses. For what you're paying, the room and service are more than good enough. If you weren't happy with this room, maybe take a closer look at your own expectations and travel more.

We had a nice stay at Haymarket Hotel for my partner's birthday. The building's classic townhouse look added something to the experience, and the location was convenient for exploring, a short walk from Haymarket Station and around 30 minutes from the Old Town. The room was generally clean and comfortable. We did hear some noise from neighbouring rooms, and the bathroom had a slightly old smell. What stood out was the thoughtful service: I arranged to have a cake delivered ahead of time and asked staff to put it in the room before we arrived. They were happy to do it, and the surprise worked perfectly.
