The rooms each have their own Scotland-related theme, and the decor is really fun. It's clean, super affordable and in an incredible location. As a solo traveller I booked just a few days ahead for two nights, though I can't say how much notice you'd need for a longer stay or several people. I'd absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh and would stay again. My one tiny gripe is that I didn't feel the breakfast was worth £4. Maybe I'd have minded less if the salads were swapped for something that felt more like breakfast.

Castle Rock Hostel has a really friendly feel, and I had a great stay. They put on fun game nights, which are especially good for young people to meet others and enjoy themselves. It's a large hostel with plenty of space to relax and socialize, so it works well for groups. The location is perfect, near the city centre and within easy walking distance of the main attractions. I'd definitely recommend it.

There are four lounges with pool and board games, plus social activities through the week, and free hot drinks. Breakfast is cheap at £4. The rooms are basic but clean and really comfy, with friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Right by the castle in central Edinburgh, it's only a 10 minute walk from the station. I'd definitely recommend it for cheap, comfortable, friendly accommodation in the centre!

We had so much fun at Castle Rock Hostel over Christmas, and I'd happily stay again. The team organises lots of activities for guests, and everyone on staff was lovely and cool. The Christmas dinner was only £25 per person for three courses and lots of wine. The main course was delicious, and the portions were generous. The building is beautiful, and its location is incredible. Inside, the rooms were lovely, the beds super comfy, and all the facilities were spotless and in great shape. One of the best hostels I've stayed in, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh. Thank you, Castle Rock team!
