The Portsburgh Square Residence

The location was a real plus, just beyond Grassmarket and easy for getting to the main Fringe venues. It was quiet enough for the most part. I occasionally heard music from the pub next door on weekend nights. This is a residential building with only two units rented out, and the neighbors I met were friendly. One man even helped me find my unit. I stayed at Portsburgh Square residences for two weeks in August 2024 for the Fringe Festival. The apartment was clean, and I didn't need to contact the management company during the stay. Communication while booking was good, so I assume their response would be fine. The bed was comfortable, and the clean linens were soft. The bedroom is small, so getting to the closet takes some maneuvering. The washer is inside that closet and has no dryer setting. I hung clothes by an open window, and they dried in a day. In the bathroom, I liked having both a tub and shower, plus plenty of counter space and a small cabinet. There wasn't enough toilet paper for a long stay, but I bought more at the Stansbury up the street. The kitchen was fine for my needs. I only heated water for tea, but the kettle wouldn't work, so I boiled it in a pan. The little fridge kept things cold and made ice. I'd recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to be very close to the city sights.

The house itself was fine, but the bed frame in our room was broken. They'd propped it up with planks of wood instead of replacing it, and it felt awful. When we complained, they refused to help and said, “We never get complaints.”

The apartment was okay, though a few things were off. The area was really central and well placed for lots of tourist sights. So many stairs, though lol.

The location is great, and the wifi is fast and works smoothly.
