The lack of sleep and cleanliness, along with the poor service, made our two-day stay at Cameron Toll Travel lodge in Edinburgh awful. The rooms aren't soundproofed: we could hear people above stomping and using the toilet, and guests next door going to the bathroom, talking, and arguing. We were first put in a ground-floor room that looked like a dungeon, next to a drunk guy blasting a football game. We asked the front desk to move us. A young woman and her even younger male colleague seemed confused and unhelpful. He kept saying, “we dont accept walk ins,” even after we told him three times we were already checked in. They moved us to another ground-floor room, this one on the parking lot side, saying it would be quieter, and claimed the hotel was fully booked. It was dirty, with a level of neglect I've never seen before. There was hair under the mattress cover, not mine; hair and dust behind the bathroom door, not mine; a dusty, smudged part of the towel rack that had been covered by the door; and dust upon dust in the bed nook. Worst of all, laundry was delivered on Sunday morning between 5:45 and 6:45. The day before there'd also been some kind of delivery, around 6:30. The rattling trolleys and delivery workers hit every stone on the path. When we told the older woman at the desk, she said nobody had ever complained. Really? I don't believe nobody had mentioned an hour-long delivery starting at 5:45 on a Sunday. I suggested changing the route so it didn't pass the room windows. She said it had to be delivered. No apology, no thanks for the information, no attempt to make things right, just defensiveness and rudeness. Do not go there.

We had a quiet night in a clean, comfortable room, with friendly staff and good parking. Getting to the city centre by bus was easy, and I'd stay again. The shower was small with fairly low water pressure, the TV was small, and the hotel's WiFi is free for only 30 minutes.

We booked a room because our son was at the nearby hospital, not realizing he wouldn't be staying on the ward the first night. The staff managed to arrange a family room for us at short notice. They were so friendly and helped us sort everything out during a really stressful time. The room and hotel were lovely, clean, and spacious, with lots of services nearby. I can't thank them enough and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the place. The staff are probably the best I've come across.

We travel to this hotel at least twice a year, and every stay has been fantastic. It's always clean, the staff are great, and breakfast is tasty. The location is really convenient, with plenty of buses into the city centre. It's dog friendly and has an onsite car park. I'd definitely recommend it.

There was enough disabled parking at the front while I was there, and the hotel was close to everything I needed to visit. It was also a bit cheaper than the other hotels I looked at. My first-floor accessible room had wider doorways, though getting through the hallway doors and using the lifts took some practice. The view was mostly a brick wall. You could see the trees if you didn't mind possibly being visible from the lift area. I didn't try the food, so can't comment on it.
