My partner is very seriously ill and won’t recover. Her contact lenses were “cleaned” from our room, leaving her barely able to see. If I hadn’t been travelling with her, she would’ve had to make the journey home alone. Otherwise, she’d have needed another night in Edinburgh while waiting for emergency contact lenses to be delivered, with our flights having to be rebooked. We know accidents happen, but this had serious consequences and could have been worse if she’d been alone. The receptionist did her best, though there was little that could realistically be done. Reducing the restaurant bill was a reasonable gesture. Please leave personal belongings in hotel bathrooms alone, or at least handle them much more carefully. There were a couple of other odd things too: while we were out, the TV remote was moved and ended up under a bedside table leg, and the cleaners took the second room key, leaving us with just one. That wasn’t a big deal, but it’s worth mentioning. The public areas are very nice, though the rooms feel a bit tired. And whatever werewolf had apparently been kept in the bathroom, going by the state of the bottom of the door, had disappeared before we arrived.

We especially enjoyed the view over the garden terrace, which was a treat even in January. Our dog-friendly room was clean and comfortable, and we thought it was excellent value. This centrally located Edinburgh hotel made us feel welcome from the start, with Zelal giving us a warm, efficient check-in. Every staff member we met was courteous, professional and eager to help, making our stay smooth and enjoyable. We’d gladly return and recommend it.

I stayed here in winter and would happily come back. The staff were welcoming when I arrived, and check-in was quick. My room was clean and comfortable, though it could feel a little cold; the extra heater they provided made a difference. On the third floor, water pressure seemed a bit low and it took a while for hot water to reach the room. The shower worked fine once I’d let it run a little to warm up.

We had a really pleasant stay. Breakfast was top class, with lots of options, and the staff were so welcoming. Our room was superb, huge and well heated, with a comfortable bed and a great shower. Would we return? Absolutely.

The front desk team were kind and, honestly, amazing. They gave us the best food recommendations in the area and were lovely to chat with. Kitty deserves a special mention for being friendly and indulging me when I fancied a friendly conversation now and then. I hope to stay here again soon!
