Elgin is a lovely town, and the hotel is an easy walk from the centre. The staff were friendly, and the rooms were spacious, with good bathrooms and super soft, comfortable king beds. There are tables outside for snacks or drinks in the sun, plus a conservatory or greenhouse area that gets lovely sunshine in the afternoon.

We arranged a group of seven at short notice on a very busy Saturday night, and had an excellent meal. Everything was good value, and the smart young staff were courteous, capable, and gave us really impressive service. Best meal we had in Elgin.

The food and service were very good. Our beds were also really comfortable, and the rooms stayed warm without feeling stuffy or draughty during our December visit. For an old house, it was surprisingly quiet and had a cosy feel. The water pressure was pretty poor, though, and our room door squeaked so loudly that getting to breakfast risked waking anyone still asleep.

We haven't stayed overnight, but this was our third evening meal here in four months. The restaurant has a friendly, relaxing feel, and the food is amazing. Service has been faultless, with smart, welcoming staff who are a real credit to the place.

While I was eating soup at the Summing Hill Hotel restaurant, a maggot dropped from the ceiling onto the table. I took a photo and told a staff member, who just picked it up and walked off as though it wasn't serious. We were told they'd look into it, but there was no apology or explanation for the rest of the meal, and no offer of a discount or other goodwill. The hygiene and customer service were completely unacceptable.
