Shoreland Lodges - Holly Lodge

We got married on the balcony of Holly Lodge, so Shoreland Lodges will always mean a lot to us. The views were stunning, the lodge felt luxurious, and it was just right for a romantic, special occasion. It had everything we needed, including a hot tub for extra evening comfort. Highland coos live on site, and we were lucky enough to have them appear during the wedding for some wonderful photos. Fort Augustus is close enough to visit, while the lodge itself still feels quiet and tucked away. Even our young children were sad to leave and kept asking when we were going 'home' to Holly Lodge for the rest of the trip. A huge thank you to Janet for witnessing our wedding. We'll treasure this stay and can't wait to return for an anniversary.

The views were stunning and the local area lovely, but our August visit was disappointing. There wasn't enough cutlery or crockery for four people, so we had to wash things as we went, which wasn't relaxing. The fridge wasn't cold enough; when we reported it, the owners oddly told us it had been PAT tested, so it must be working. The towels and some pots, pans, and measuring jugs were worn out and should have been replaced long ago. The balcony chair cushions were badly stained and uncomfortable.

We arrived late for our two-night stay and appreciated the easy check-in. The clean, simple home had two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The hot tub was covered and steaming, and Loch Ness offered the cold plunge if you dared. The setting and views were awesome, just outside bustling Port Augustus.

The view was exactly what I'd dreamed of, and the lodge itself was wonderful, with big, comfortable, warm rooms. I was looking for something different and spacious, so I booked two August nights in February, then planned our trip around them. They were meant to be the highlight, and they absolutely were. Thank you for this unbelievable stay. I'll definitely come back, maybe for a week, who knows, and spend time in the highlands. Julie from France! 😊
