Auchenlea Lodges

Breakfast was absolutely delicious, and we loved how spacious our rooms were. Our host was amazing, probably the sweetest person we met on the trip. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back.

The lodge is compact but finished to a really good standard, and there’s a little outdoor spot for coffee in the morning or wine in the evening. We got lucky with the weather. It’s close to a rail station, so Glasgow Central is about 20 minutes away. The owner seems to have thought of everything, even leaving a small bottle of milk in the fridge for hot drinks. Better, I think, than some five-star hotels I’ve stayed in. A great place to relax while visiting Glasgow.

The setting just outside Glasgow is much more relaxed, with a farm and horses next door. Our lodge was a good size, nicely decorated, and had all we needed, including good cooking facilities. It was the best place we stayed during our week in Scotland.

This was a last-minute one-night booking, and I’m glad I chose it. The view over the fields out back was lovely, parking was easy, and the shower had great water pressure. The Scottish breakfast was the highlight, especially the black pudding and haggis, the best I’ve had. I’ll stay again next time I’m near Glasgow.
