The Albany

The staff member was nice, but seemed more keen to chat with some locals than make sure we were all served. It was quiet when we visited, and with only a couple of occupied tables the place felt short on atmosphere. Dimming the lights a little might have made it cozier. We left after one drink, though we’d have stayed longer if it had felt more welcoming.

We stopped by for a couple of drinks between shopping and having cream tea at the nearby hotel. The two young women behind the bar were friendly and helpful, and took time to chat without making us feel rushed. The place was very clean and had a comfortable atmosphere.

The roof garden is pleasant, and there’s a good range of drinks, though they’re priced mid to premium for Guildford. The bar snacks are excellent. It’s a spacious pub with friendly staff, and I’ve always found the atmosphere nice. It’s close to town but tucked away enough to feel clear of the crowds.

Good spot for a couple of drinks, up at the top of Guildford town just a few minutes from the main high street. There’s plenty of outdoor space and lots of booths inside. The food is tasty and well priced, and the cheesy chips come in generous portions. The beer selection is wide, bottled and on tap, though there weren’t the usual Rekordalig ciders for a summer evening. You can also book functions and events for free, which is pretty neat.
