Premier Inn Newport Wales - M4 J24

I’m posting this at 1:20am and still can’t sleep. The room is far too hot, smells bad, and has hairs on the bed. There’s no air con or fan, and although the windows open onto the M4, it doesn’t cool things down enough. It badly needs updating and isn’t worth £70 a night, never mind the £130 I paid. Staff were a neutral part of the experience. I thought the point of Premier Inn was knowing what to expect. This is the worst one I’ve stayed in.

Breakfast was served in a tiny, dark space where people could barely move around, and the food was badly cooked. The black pudding, for example, had the texture of a biscuit. The restaurant matched the rest of the place: dark, dingy and badly in need of renovation. Staff did the bare minimum and seemed as miserable as the hotel. This is the most miserable Premier Inn I’ve stayed in. There are much better places, so avoid unless you’re desperate.

There were treats waiting in the room for our children, which was a lovely gesture, and the warm, welcoming staff really made the stay. The hotel has no air con, but we were told that when we booked, so we brought a fan. With the rooms being hot, it’d probably suit winter better. Thanks to everyone we met.
