The Coach and Horses made our quick one-night trip feel like a real treat. Prices are kept low and affordable, yet the whole experience felt luxurious. I’ve stayed in some Premier Inns that were disgusting enough for me to ask for a refund. The owner texted to ask when we expected to arrive, so the room was ready. Check-in was quick, and we were given two keys so we could come and go as we liked. We were also shown where the disabled long-stay parking was. On the bed there was a welcome booklet with emergency contacts, local history, and a map of things to see and do, which helped us plan our second day. We put it in the dressing table drawer when we left. The owners clearly take pride in this property, which has a long and fascinating history. The owner explained the old England and Wales borders, as the place is on Welsh Street. Everything was clean and tidy. Our twin room was spacious and had a huge smart TV with Netflix, YouTube, and other apps. You can sign in to your own accounts, just remember to log out. There was a choice of tea and coffee, a coffee pod machine, and a kettle. The towels were clean and fluffy, the beds comfortable, and the sheets good quality. Cute little blankets added a homely touch. The shared bathroom was immaculate, with no damp or mould smell. After getting soaked in Tintern, the shower was wonderful. A small thoughtful extra was that staff gave me a razor and shaving cream when I realised I’d forgotten mine. They also offer other free items on request, like shower caps, shower gel, and toiletries. This would be my first choice for bed and breakfast if I’m in the area again.

Dave was a friendly, knowledgeable host, and sent us off with a good breakfast. We stayed while walking Offa’s Dyke. The building is several hundred years old, but the rooms are modern and comfortable. It’s about a ten-minute walk from the station and close to the town centre.

We had a really pleasant evening in this cosy, friendly pub. The staff were lovely, the food was good and reasonably priced, and drinks were very affordable. I went for a nostalgic basket of scampi, which was lovely, while my partner really enjoyed the pie.

A great place to stay, with a comfortable room, a good shower, friendly staff, and a delicious breakfast. Dave, the landlord, is passionate about the pub and its history and goes out of his way for guests. I’d definitely recommend it.

I had an amazing stay and felt really welcome. The room was excellent, with tea, coffee, milk, and even a Dolce Gusto machine. It was a very relaxing place, and the shared bathroom was outstandingly clean. I hadn’t realised some rooms don’t have their own bathroom, that was my mistake for not checking, and the owners still tried to accommodate me. Highly recommended.
