The landlord, chef and staff were all very friendly, and the food was good quality for the price. I tried the duck, which was cooked really well and full of flavour, and the vegetables with it were just as nice. Dessert was lovely too. It was my first visit, but it won’t be my last. There’s a good range of food, with something for everyone. I’d certainly recommend the place.

The landlord was very welcoming, but the staff were less so. My meal was spot on, though my partner’s lamb was extremely fatty. There were only two high chairs and no kids’ menu, which was disappointing. It would be ideal for a couple or a group of friends, but I wouldn’t take my kids there again. It’s a shame, because it’s a lovely pub.

The meat was nice, and there was plenty of gravy, almost enough to sink a ship! I wasn’t sure about the mushy peas, but the vegetables were plentiful and well cooked. The service was good and the price reasonable. A surprisingly good Sunday lunch, especially the very good Yorkshire pudding. Well done!

The staff are friendly and helpful, and the French merlot was lovely. We really enjoyed our meal. The Sunday lunch is consistently fabulous, with everything cooked just right, including the vegetables and gravy.

The friendly atmosphere made the meal a treat, and we’ll definitely return soon. Peter and Shelley were so welcoming and clearly enjoy what they do. The restaurant menu was interesting, our food was delicious, cooked to order and just right. Peter knows his ales, and the one he recommended went down very well. Nothing was too much trouble, and the service came with a smile. I told Shelley how good her homemade mint sauce was and suggested she sell it separately. We found a real gem in High Hesledon today and would highly recommend it.
