The Watermill Hotel, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western

The Watermill is in the middle of a „Rosamunde Pilcher Area“, and there’s a nearby train connection to Euston Station. We had a great weekend there. The staff were very friendly, and the English breakfast was delicious.

For a Best Western, this was shockingly poor. There were plenty of breakfast options, but they were poor. The room was in bad repair, and broken window catches meant the windows wouldn’t shut properly, so road noise kept us up all night. There was also an unbearable smell of what seemed like dead rodents in the bathroom, possibly behind the bath or sink unit. The draughty windows helped air it out.

The rooms and full breakfast were fabulous, and the value was superb. Every member of staff was welcoming and friendly, and they really go above and beyond. I don’t know how they manage it, but keep doing what you’re doing. Thank you so much!

The staff were very friendly. The man at reception and the woman who showed me to my room were both pleasant, and the young man checking and cleaning rooms in the morning was especially polite and kind. The bus stop is right outside, and there’s a large car park with plenty of spaces. Two pubs are across the road, and the hotel has a bar and terrace. My room was fairly spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed, and it was good value. It is a bit dated, though. The curtains are awful, and the windows don’t shut properly, so there’s a draught along with the door to outside. The bathroom is large, but the door creaks loudly enough to wake someone. The sink had no hot water, and the toilet flush was so weak it barely cleared urine, sometimes not refilling at all. The shower curtain has mould stains and smells terrible, and the fixed shower head makes it impossible to wash your body without wetting your hair. A flexible head would be better. The terrace could be a real hit with some care and cleaning. The plants are dry or artificial, the windows are covered in cobwebs, and the umbrella looks like it hasn’t been cleaned since it was put up, with cobwebs and debris on it. A few events there could liven the place up. If you need a manager with vision to refresh it, I’m available for the right compensation. For the price, it’s acceptable.
