The little details here really stand out, even the toilets had Noble Isle products, my favourite, and high-quality UK-sourced ones. There’s a real sense of pride in the place, with local food and drink given a personal touch. The staff were lovely, and the chef came over a few times to chat. For me, eating out is as much about the atmosphere and service as the food, and they got all of that right. We stopped in for lunch on Sunday on the way back from Shepton Mallet. We hadn’t booked, but they made us feel like it was no trouble at all. The beer choice was 10/10, with Otter on tap, and there was a lovely range of spirits too. We had duck and beef for mains. The duck was just how you’d hope, cooked at home to perfection, and the Ju’ blackcurrants with purple cabbage and raisins were a great match. The trifle with homegrown rhubarb was amazing, topped with freeze-dried mint, violas and rosss from the garden. It’s our third visit, and we’ll be back again. Amazing, highly recommend.

The lodges were a lovely place to stay, with super comfortable beds and an amazing bath. Our room also had its own wood burner, which made it feel extra special. There are nice walks straight from the hotel, well worth doing before breakfast. The food was incredible, and so much of it was homegrown, which gave everything a personal touch.

We came back after seven months away, and the place was every bit as superb as we remembered. We’re not local, but this country inn is a big part of what draws us to Somerset. It’s a memorable spot and well worth the journey. Caroline gave us a warm, polished welcome, and the whole visit was a pleasure. The food was excellent, a real credit to chef Alan. We’ve eaten all over the UK and in many places around the world, and honestly, the cooking here stands alongside the very best. Highly recommended.

The countryside around the Holcombe is beautiful, so it’s a lovely place to pair with a walk. Caroline and Alan were friendly and relaxed, and went out of their way to make sure we had a great time. It was a magical first getaway since having our baby, and our second time at the Holcombe. We’ll definitely return. Our room had loads of character, including a freestanding bath looking out over the fields. We slept very well, then had a spectacular breakfast: homemade granola, marmalade and jam, croissants, plus a really good cooked English breakfast. Dinner the night before was delicious too, with plenty of Holcombe homegrown produce and a good range of wines by the glass. Such a special place, 100% recommend staying and having dinner here.

The venue was stunning, with a lovely balance of elegance and warmth. The restaurant was beautifully decorated, the bedrooms were charming, and the setting made for incredible photos. Caroline and Alan took care of every detail with patience, support and brilliant organisation throughout the planning. Nothing was too much trouble, and their calm professionalism meant we could relax and enjoy the build-up and the day itself. The food was incredible. We’ve never eaten better, and plenty of our guests said it was the best wedding food they’d had too. We lost count of how many mentioned it, and some are already planning to come back just to eat there again. Every course was full of flavour, beautifully prepared and served with care. Choosing The Holcombe Inn was one of our best decisions. They did more than host our wedding, they made it perfect. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
