The lodge is dog-friendly, but its railings don't fully enclose the property, especially near the entrance, which is close to the road. Smaller or curious dogs could squeeze through, so they'll need watching. There's plenty of parking for several cars, but the gravel and dirt driveway is very steep and can be slippery in rain. Take it slowly, and low-clearance cars may struggle at the crest. The patio gate is there, so you could get the family out at that point. Both neighbouring villages are a 20-25 minute walk away, with convenience stores and bakeries. Local pubs welcome dogs but don't serve food. The house is a lovely period property full of character, with large rooms and beautiful woodland views. It's a little tired inside, as you'd expect for its age. There's only one shower and bathroom, plus an ensuite toilet, so a group might have to queue. The large patio has seating, a BBQ, firepit and hot-tub.

Our favourite thing was the hot tub. We had a late-night dip, with robes and slippers included, and it was amazing. Eight of us stayed in this lovely lodge, part of the larger estate, for one night after a local wedding. The price was very cheap for one night, and we'd definitely stay again and recommend it. All the bedrooms were a good size with comfy beds, and there was one main bathroom plus an ensuite bathroom downstairs. The kitchen was well stocked and a good size, and we had a large lounge and dining area too. Just be a confident driver: the road to the parking lot is extremely steep and was slippery that day. If you're not comfortable driving it, I'd suggest parking on the main road.

We chose this lodge for my daughter’s 30th birthday so she could spend time with her niece and gran. The kids also had the hot tub to enjoy. It’s a lovely little place, clean and tidy, with the things you need already there, so we only had to bring food and drinks. The drive down to the property is steep and a bit uneven, but manageable if you take it slowly. We had a great few days away, thank you.

The property is nice, though it could use a bit of attention. It’s advertised with a hot tub, but it only goes up to 35 degrees and drops to 33 pretty quickly once you take the lid off. That makes it not much use, especially in winter.

We had a fantastic long weekend here and would happily come back. It’s a beautiful, spacious and clean place with good facilities, and the location is great for hiking and exploring the Peaks. The only thing I’d suggest is better internet, though it wasn’t a big deal.
