I was turned away because they’d given all the rooms to Dinghy men.

Breakfast was exceptional, and it was handy having both a bar and restaurant with bar food. The welcome was friendly and check-in was easy. We chose it for a stop on the way north to Scotland. It’s just outside Leeds and easy to reach from the motorway. The room was basic but did the job, apart from the old spring mattress, which was noisy and uncomfortable. A replacement would have made this an easy four-star stay.

We came with a National Coaches Holiday and I’d happily stay here again. The buffet meals were very good, with plenty of choice, and the staff were pleasant and helpful. Check-in went smoothly, and my room was clean and spacious.

The two women working in the restaurant were fantastic, but the food was very poor. Our rooms were okay, though they needed a proper clean, especially the bathrooms. One toilet in a room used by our group wasn’t working, and nobody fixed it. This place could be a marvellous value-for-money stay if a little more effort went into it.

The place feels dated, though the staff were really friendly and polite and we enjoyed our stay. We were in a road-facing room, and cars raced up and down all Friday night, so bring earplugs or something. At breakfast Saturday the food was nice, but the plates were ridiculously small for an adult.
