A proper Liverpool pub, one of the city's institutions. That's all that needs saying.

The apartment itself was beautiful, but the cleanliness was so bad that I won't stay here again. There was hair in the bed, so we didn't sleep in it, and hair and beer cans were scattered around. We even found a used condom in a drawer. The toilet facilities weren't hygienic either. It looked as if the place hadn't been dusted or cleaned with proper products for ages. A drawer handle came off in my hand, too. After paying £700, I expected much better. Everything needs a thorough clean and some care. We spoke to the barman downstairs, who said he only manages the pub and not the upstairs rooms. I may have that wrong, but I wasn't convinced: he came up to change a light bulb, gave us the fob for the apartment, and took the deposit. All in all, a really poor experience.

There are tables outside, with the jukebox playing through a speaker both outdoors and inside. It's a small place, and the atmosphere seems more aimed at a mature crowd. Drinks are fairly priced and there's a good choice. Right in central Liverpool, and a nice one to visit when the weather's warm and sunny.
