Elsinore Hotel

We stayed two nights in March and had no complaints. Cheap and cheerful, with a decent continental breakfast and a choice of cooked eggs. The staff were polite and got on with running a budget B&B. Thanks.

The building has seen better days, with damp and mould in lots of places. The walls are thin too, so expect to hear some noise, though I slept reasonably well. Breakfast was good for continental options like cereal and toast. You get what you pay for, and it wasn't the worst hotel I've stayed at. For a night or two in Llandudno, I'd recommend it if you're looking for somewhere cheap and cheerful.

We checked in and then left straight away. The room smelled foul and was dirty. Reception offered to show us another room, but it was almost the same, with that smell again, broken wardrobes, wrapped carpets and holes in the bathroom doors. We asked to check out and were given a form for a refund, but we've never received it. They argued it wasn't their fault because they offered another room. Avoid this place. It's a real disappointment for the area, and I think the council should shut it down because it's a health hazard.

I hadn't read the reviews when I booked, so I was pleasantly surprised. We came on a very cold day, but the rooms felt cosy enough, despite what some people had said about the cold. Some shared areas are shabby, though the staff were friendly and helpful, if a little shy. Breakfast was basic, but at £171 for seven of us across four rooms, I can't complain. I couldn't agree with the man at the next table having a tantrum about there being no full English. I couldn't be bothered to point out it would be a full Welsh.
