Matthew used to be a chef, and he made us a perfect breakfast. He and his wife were the friendliest hosts we’ve ever met, welcoming us so warmly that we felt at home straight away. It’s a large country home turned into a hotel, with three spacious, clean and comfortable rooms in a beautiful rural setting. I’d recommend it to any friend.

On our trips to and from the north of Scotland, Lochearn House is always the first place we check for availability. Matthew and Dianne greet us with such a warm, cheerful welcome, which is especially appreciated after a long journey or a holiday in the Isles. Matthew’s breakfasts are outstanding, and guests are given homemade cakes when they arrive. The location is handy, about halfway between Callander and Crianlarich and just a short walk from picturesque Loch Earn. The B&B is well equipped, with modern but comfortable decor in the rooms and lounge. Of its three rooms, the two largest are at the front and have large, modern bathrooms. The house sits at a crossroads. The roads aren’t especially busy, but if you’re a light sleeper and leave the window open, choose the smaller room at the back. It’s quieter and looks over a pretty garden.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Matthew was a friendly, helpful host, and the location was great, with private parking. The room was very clean, the mattress and pillows were comfortable, and breakfast was excellent.
