Banks Hotel

The location seemed fine to me, near a park and pubs and restaurants. I was there on a holiday camp three years ago. The room was okay and the bed comfortable, though the bathroom felt cramped. I'm used to having a big bathroom, and it reminded me of some city flats. The maids were really kind, as were the dining room staff. Breakfast was a typical English spread: toast, fried eggs, bacon, beans in tomato sauce and sausages. Sometimes there wasn't enough toast, which was a problem for me since I don't eat pork, and beans feel too heavy for a first meal.

The rooms are warm and have everything stocked efficiently, but the shower bracket was damaged. When I lifted the shower head out, the bracket fell and hit me on the head. Otherwise everything was okay. I couldn't tell where breakfast was served, and nobody explained it. The cleaning ladies were lovely and helpful. The crew accidentally walked in while I was checking out, but I didn't mind, since it showed the rooms were being cleaned. It's not perfect, but I appreciate the effort and will stay again.

I was in a ground-floor room, and children above me were running and jumping at 11 pm. There was a window on the left, but I couldn't open it properly because there was a kitchen there. They started vacuuming and cleaning in the kitchen at 11 pm too.

The room was disgusting. There were fake nails, chicken bones and a mouldy potato on the floor, and it looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in years. The radiator was blasting and I couldn't turn it down because the TRV was broken. WiFi was extremely weak, the TV barely worked, there was no soap, and they wouldn't give us extra pillows. The location was ridiculously noisy, so getting a decent sleep was difficult. I know it's a two-star hotel and my expectations were already very low, but this place was awful. It honestly couldn't have been worse. Do yourself a favour and book somewhere else.
