Flexistay Aparthotel Sutton

We had no issues with the room, and it was great to have a few parking spaces out front. My partner and I needed a last-minute overnight stay on a weekend, and I'll keep this place in mind for future London stopovers. The room was basic, but nice, clean, simple, minimal and comfortable. It was great value compared with nearby places like Holiday Inn and Ibis. The shared amenities and communal kitchen looked good, though we didn't use them, and the shower and bathroom were very decent. The only confusing part was checking in before 10pm without a person there. The lockbox instructions and confirmation email weren't very clear, and getting someone on the phone on Saturday evening outside office hours was harder than it needed to be, with lots of redirected calls ending up in voicemail. Clearer instructions could help. Some of it was probably our fault too. We'd definitely stay again.

The free breakfast is there, but you have to cook it yourself. The kitchen is filthy, with grime and grease across the walls and ceiling, dirty mop water left out, and mouldy food with no dates in the shared fridges. The bathroom vent is packed with dust, so anyone with allergies should avoid it. I told staff and nothing changed. The walls are so thin you can hear other guests snoring, and the oven has no symbols, so you can't tell the temperature or whether it's on grill or fan. It's very close to Sutton station, but this place didn't feel clean or safe, and I wouldn't call it child friendly, as the photos show.

The room was clean both times I stayed, and some rooms have a small kitchen of their own. They're decent, though they have a shower only, no bath. Parking is first come, first served, with just five spaces. It's in a nice area and handy for where my other half lives, so I'd stay again. The train line is nearby and you can hear the trains, but it hasn't kept me awake. Thanks for another nice stay.

The other guests were noisy in the early hours, which didn't help when I was trying to sleep. I got the impression some of them were staying there long term. People, possibly staff, were also smoking right by the main entrance, which should be discouraged. I was in room 13 for one night on 27 December. It looked spacious, clean and warm at first, and the bathroom was nice. But the bed was dreadful: something like a button on the mattress kept stabbing me in the back, and there was nobody around at 1 am to sort it out. The TV didn't work either, though it might have distracted me. I didn't use the shared kitchen or other facilities, which looked OK. Fine for a budget night, but I'm not sure I'd return.
