Breakfast at the restaurant had lots of choice, and the service there was just as lovely. I’d happily come back. The classic double was roomy, with space to work and put our things away. It was clean, with a wardrobe and extra storage, plus towels, soap, shower cap, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. There was drinking water, tea, coffee and a little snack in the room, which was nice after travelling. Getting around was easy, and the hotel can arrange a car if you need one. Dan greeted us warmly, offered an upgrade and set up complimentary breakfast since dining wasn’t available that day. The reception staff were helpful too, and there around the clock. We could hear guests coming and going in the neighboring rooms through the thin walls. The air conditioner also kept making a spurting or squeaking noise all night, which disturbed our sleep.

We were out most of the time, so the small Cosy room didn’t bother us too much, even as a couple. The location made it easy to get around, with a short bus ride to Victoria one way and Chelsea the other. There are loads of shops, bars and restaurants right nearby. The hotel was clean and nicely fitted out, and the front desk team were pleasant. It gave us what we needed for a reasonable price. Thanks.

We mentioned that we were celebrating an anniversary, and they treated us so nicely, upgrading our room and laying on a lavish breakfast. The staff were great throughout. It’s a comfortable, understated hotel in a great spot, and I’d definitely stay again.

The food was good and fairly priced for the area, and the Wi-Fi and A/C did the job for the price. I also really appreciated the 24-hour room service. The dining room has set hours, but being able to order to the room meant we could stay out later without worrying about finding food before bed. My first stay at Sloane Place turned out far better than I expected. The photos looked good, the reviews praised the staff, and the location seemed fairly priced, so I gave it a try. I travel for work about two thirds of the year and have stayed in plenty of hotels. Before unpacking, I usually check for crumbs, hairs or even loose change left behind. Sloane Place was spotless: not a hair under or around the mattress, not a crumb between the furniture cushions, and the drawers, mouldings and bathroom were just as clean. I’ve only seen cleaning like that at Mandarin-Orientals and Ritz-Carltons. It was even better than at many premium Marriott, Hilton and IHG properties. I stayed at an InterContinental in Japan last month, and Sloane Place’s room was cleaner. Please keep that up. It really makes the hotel stand out. Timothy was especially helpful, sorting out cabs, answering questions and extending my stay after bad weather cancelled my flight. The rest of the staff were lovely too. They made a big difference to my stay. A few things to know: the adjoining members’ club has a gym and spa, and it would be nice if hotel guests could book some access to them. The hallways and rooms look older, perhaps last updated 20 years ago or more, though the bathrooms seem to have been renovated within the past five years. The decor is dated but well kept. There aren’t many amenities, and the rooms can be small. I had a Chelsea King room as a solo traveller with one checked bag and one carry-on, and there still wasn’t much spare space. I’d suggest it for solo travellers, work trips and couples. Families could stay too, especially with calmer, more mature kids. The hotel is close to public transit, in a safe neighborhood with lots of nearby attractions. The staff, cleanliness, food and dining room atmosphere make up for the limited amenities.

Most of the staff I met were friendly and nice, but that didn’t make up for the poor communication and lack of leadership at reception. I stayed for 10 days. At check-in, a man told me I’d been given a complimentary Super King upgrade for the whole stay. I’d considered paying for one before I arrived, so I thought it was a generous gesture, perhaps because of my longer stay and a quieter period. That has happened to me at other hotels. At checkout, the upgrade was charged to my credit card, and staff denied that it had been offered for free. The manager said he’d look into it and get back to me. I didn’t want to leave without resolving the bill, but I had a flight to catch, so I trusted I’d hear from him. A receptionist said they’d probably contact me later that day. Nobody did. I called the next day and was told the manager would call back, but again there was no call or email. Two days later, I still hadn’t heard anything. I feel ripped off, lied to and taken advantage of. I’m extremely disappointed by the dishonesty I experienced, the lack of follow-up and the management’s unprofessional treatment of me. I’ve travelled to more than 50 countries, and this may be the worst customer service I’ve had. I don’t know if it’s a sign of the times or if I should have chosen another hotel. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
