The Langorf Hotel

It’s on a quiet, safe street near transport, with tube journeys of 15-20 minutes to anywhere. The complimentary breakfast was a nice start before heading out to explore London. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and they made the beds and brought fresh towels every day. The staff were kind and helpful.

I liked the old-fashioned house, and the staff were so nice, but the room came with a lot of problems. The room was covered in cobwebs and felt uncomfortable. There was a silverfish on the bathroom floor. I know that can happen in any home, but newer wooden floors and cleaner floors would help prevent it. The shower was cold after 10pm. I was exhausted and standing there in a towel, so I didn’t call for help. The notes all over the room made me think this might be an ongoing issue. I took pictures and will email the hotel privately about fixing it.

For £100 a night, which was a discount from the usual higher price, I’d hoped for more. The location was great and the receptionist lovely, but some of the other staff seemed bored and as if they didn’t care. Breakfast was cold and the selection very poor. The room speaks for itself in the pictures. It looked like it hadn’t been renovated since the 80s. I’m not sure how it hasn’t been reported to hygiene control, or whether that even exists in the UK.

The hotel is a little ragged around the edges and feels like hospitality from the 80s, but it’s great value. I’m a regular now. It suits a no-frills business stay, with comfortable beds, large executive rooms, free WiFi and hot showers. The back of the hotel is quiet, and the tube is a five-minute walk away, with plenty of local amenities close by.
