The staff worked hard to be kind and helpful, including with meals and drinks, and that’s what earned the stars for me. The food was good and there was a nice selection, but the cocktails listed on the menu weren’t available. I’m not sure if we caught them at the wrong time or if that’s always the case, as I’ve seen another review say the same. The room was at a very budget price and fair for that, but wasn’t great. There were coffee and tea stains on the wall, and although it was freezing outside, the room was boiling with no way to adjust the heat. I don’t know whether that’s normal or something was broken, but it should probably have been mentioned. I barely slept. I’ve had this issue at another Travelodge, especially with windows that only open a crack, though that was more understandable in summer and they’d provided a fan. I know people have different preferences, so there may not be much they can do. Greenwich station is right next door, which is convenient for getting around. At night, though, people get very loud right outside. We were there on a Friday, and an open window meant noise. The staff are hardworking, polite and kind, but at least for now the rooms leave a lot to be desired.
Bala at the front desk was a pleasure to deal with, friendly, professional and always ready to help with a smile. She answered questions and sorted requests, which made everything feel more welcoming and straightforward. The hotel is well placed for getting around the city, and my room was clean, comfortable and well maintained. I had a very good stay at Travelodge London Greenwich and would consider coming back.
The reception staff were friendly and helpful. When I had to leave for a day trip at 6am, the woman at reception packed me a breakfast. It’s also very easy to get to, right beside Greenwich DLR station. The room was the main problem: no hair dryer or iron, and no ventilation. There was a small table fan, but it didn’t cool the room enough. Opening the window helped with the heat but brought in noise. The walls are thin too, and I could clearly hear people in the next room.
I rarely write reviews, but this was unacceptable. The first room smelled as if toilet fumes were leaking into it. In the replacement, the window didn’t insulate properly, so street voices and traffic came through. I didn’t sleep at all, even though I’d slept brilliantly in a similar hotel the night before, which was clean and quiet. Avoid. Not good enough.
The rooms were clean and the staff pleasant, and breakfast was a good standard. A DLR station is right beside the hotel, so public transport links are excellent. I got into London too early to check in and asked reception to hold my suitcase so I could collect it later. I had other things to do and carrying it on the tube would have been a pain. They wouldn’t store it, so I had to take it with me. Less than ideal.
