Stanley Street Apartments

I was meant to stay this Friday to take my daughter to see Queen, but the concert was cancelled because of Covid-19. I booked the hotel back in September 2019 and the money came off my card straight away. I can't even rate a stay that never happened. Trying to sort it out has been a nightmare. Booking.com sent me to OYO, then OYO sent me to the property, but none of the property's online contact details work. OYO says it has no record of my booking. My emails bounce back, and both phone numbers are dead lines. Nobody will take responsibility, and I'm £70 out of pocket. Even my bank rejected my refund claim.

At least all the appliances worked, and the shower was nice. The hot towel rack helped too. The apartment was small but cosy, and the beds were fairly uncomfortable. We booked for four people but got a room for three, with too few towels and not enough bed linen. It's on an industrial estate, about a 15-minute walk from the commercial town centre.

The place was clean, but the bedsheets were worn out and there wasn't a cupboard for clothes. They hadn't provided soap, shampoo, tissues or even toilet paper. The location wasn't pleasant, and the photos were deceptive. This was my first time in England since the eighties and my first trip to Manchester. I wouldn't recommend it to an enemy.

I knew the apartments were on an industrial estate, but the flat still left me unimpressed. It was modern, though poorly maintained, with light bulbs missing, a broken smoke alarm and no curtains.
