The fish cakes were spicy and delicious, and the other bar snacks we tried were lovely too. Even though it was packed at Sunday lunch, they still found room for us. The roasts looked amazing, so we’ll be back to try one. The staff were great. Definitely recommend this place.

Those pizzas were probably the best I’ve had around here, really tasty with a lovely crisp base. We enjoyed the roast too, though we’d have liked one more slice of beef. The extra Yorkie, gravy and potatoes were much appreciated. Service was good and it’s a nice pub. A kids’ menu would’ve been handy, but it wasn’t a big deal. The thing that gets frustrating is how much prices have gone up over the last few years. We eat out less often now.

The Sunday lunch was excellent, and the staff were professional throughout. The young woman who seemed to be in charge when I arrived was especially polite and friendly, a real credit to the industry. I had a comfortable room with nice decor and appreciated the personal touches. I’d definitely recommend the dog and gun.

The venison sausages were superb, and the pizza and pie were great too. We had a meal in the garden recently, and the service was good. The food here is generally great, so I’d still give this gastro pub 5 out of 5 and would return. But don’t order the double cheeseburger. It was sloppy and absolutely not worth over £20. The untoasted brioche bun, sauce, pickles and gherkins made it a bready mess, with basic cheese. The meat seemed processed, with none of the coarse texture I’d expect from a homemade Pattie. I’m a burger snob, and this felt like ending up with the arse end of a very basic option. I left it for the bin. 😇

We met up at the pub for our monthly catchup, and it turned out to be a little gem. It was busy, but not too busy, and the service was amazing. The food was fresh, full of flavour and great value. The honey and peperoni pizza was a hit with all of us. We’ll definitely come back next time we fancy pizza. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!
