Dakota Newcastle

The staff were friendly and efficient, and we had an excellent stay. Check-in was easy, with the nice surprise of a complimentary upgrade to a superior suite. The complimentary bar was reasonably stocked. The room was spacious, with a good-sized comfortable bed and two TVs, one facing the bed and another by the desk. The pillows were softer than we like, but stacking two worked fine. The website mentioned Apple TV with streaming apps, though Netflix and Prime both asked us to log in. That wasn’t a big deal since we weren’t in Newcastle to watch TV. The hotel is well placed on the Quayside, within walking distance of the city centre and its attractions. We’d recommend it.

We thought we’d have just one drink on New Year’s Eve, but ended up staying much longer and could easily have spent hours there. The bar has a classy, comfortable feel, with good lighting and ambient music that still lets you hear each other talk. Bradley looked after us and made delicious cocktails. We felt welcome and special, and the evening became a really memorable one. I’m grateful for that, thank you.

We always choose this hotel when we’re visiting Newcastle. It’s in a quiet riverside spot, but bars and the city centre are still within walking distance. The breakfast and other food are great, and I’d definitely recommend the Sunday lunch. The public areas and rooms are immaculately clean, and the staff and atmosphere are lovely and friendly. Nothing seems too much trouble. We’d highly recommend staying here.

The bar food and drinks are a little pricey, and getting to the car park behind the hotel involves a bit of a walk. One useful thing to know: you can pay for parking at the hotel, since that isn’t mentioned by the QR code or machine in the car park. The hotel itself is fantastic, right on the Quayside. The rooms are nicely furnished, with a great bathroom and shower, and the service was brilliant. Everyone was friendly and helpful.
