Priest Bridge Cottage

The cottage is in a great location, but the rest of the stay was very disappointing. We were there for five days, starting the week of the 24th June 2024, and there was only parking for one car. We never saw or heard from the owners during our stay. The cottage was cosy but dated. Rain came through the ceiling onto the stairs, and when we called, we were told to put a bucket underneath and that they'd sort it out. The blind in the front bedroom wouldn't go up or down, so there was no privacy. The back garden was horrendous, overgrown with weeds, with a broken ceramic cup lying around and old wood and ash left in the chimney. The sun seats and garden were just as dirty, with moss on the seats. There was free WiFi, but we had to chase the owners for the code because none was left in the cottage. Before we arrived, we got no email with the key code. Nobody was there to let us in or welcome us, and while I waited in the car my husband called the owner several times without an answer. A neighbour kindly lent us a spare key. Eventually the owner called back, having forgotten we were coming and seeming unsure of our booking and what we'd paid.

Too small for four workers, and the house feels dated and cluttered. It needs a good dusting, which seems ironic with all the kitchen labels warning about charges for dishes left behind. It was cold, there were lots of flies, and the roof leaked. The living room smoke alarm kept beeping and drove me mad, so in the end I took it down.

We spent the week here with family and the house was lovely. The host was very professional and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. Great location too. Thanks for everything, guys. We'll stay again.

A lovely stay at Jo's cottage. It's in a beautiful setting near tollymore forest park, and was just right for a peaceful getaway.
