Best Western New Kent

I loved the food, and they were very accommodating with dietary needs. I went to the restaurant early and ate without booking after a friendly welcome at reception. Breakfast was also nice, though I’d chosen the hotel because I expected a buffet and it turned out to be cooked to order. The room surprised me with how spacious it was, with a double and a single bed, and the shower was powerful. The problem was that both beds were rock hard. I tried the single one in case it was softer, but it wasn’t. If you like an extra-firm mattress, this could suit you, but it definitely didn’t work for me, so I wouldn’t stay again, which is a shame because it’s a lovely hotel.

The breakfast was exceptional, with plenty of choice, and the cooked breakfast was delicious and hot. The staff were so friendly and helpful that I couldn’t fault the place. My room was clean and warm, the bed was lovely, and the bath was a bonus with plenty of hot water.

The Indian food was a highlight, especially the fantastic curry, and breakfast was cooked to order and just as good. The server staff in both rooms were great, and the breakfast and evening dining spaces are nicely decorated. It’s an easy walk to local shops. I stayed in room 14. The earlier issues with it seem to have been sorted: the bed was comfortable, the bathroom nicely refurbished, and there was plenty of hot water. One downside is that restaurant smells drift into the hotel corridors. I’d also say the reception staff were a bit frosty, which might be worth working on since they make the first impression.

I booked for a concert in Newcastle and would stay here again. There’s a bus stop across from the hotel, and it’s just over a mile to walk. A lovely woman at reception greeted me, and check-in was very easy. The room was clean and okay, with a double bed and a lovely ensuite. Breakfast had a good choice, and the service was brilliant.
