The pub about 30 metres down the road was very loud until early morning. It sounded as if it were across the road. Check-in was prompt over the phone, and entry codes for both the front door and room meant no keys to deal with. The room was just as expected, though there was only hand soap for the shower. Breakfast was excellent: a few cereals and juices to choose from, then a full English cooked to order with tea or coffee.

The rooms were stuffy and hot, with barely any ventilation. Only one sash window opened, and only halfway. Saturday night was very noisy and I was woken several times. The shower cubicle was small, its door wouldn’t shut properly, the sink had a big crack, and there was no lock on the bathroom door. The decor felt dated, with wallpaper patched using sellotape. There was also a shoddy ceiling repair in the cupboard and heavy water staining still visible. The place felt tacky and impersonal, with no reception, and the building was claustrophobic. I couldn’t wait to get home. It was expensive for what we got, and I won’t return.

Stayed four nights in room 1, one of the suites. The breakfast was lovely. The room could use some maintenance, though: a few lights were out and the bathroom ceiling needs repainting.

The rooms were clean and a good size, and getting in with a code was simple, so there was no check-in. One socket was hidden behind the bed, which left only one outlet that was really usable.

I was in the attic during a heatwave, so it got very hot. Otherwise it was comfortable and very clean, and breakfast was really good. I’d still definitely come back.
