Update to the owner’s reply: We were given five heaters, not eight. Apart from one, they were about the size of a house brick, and not enough to heat big bedrooms. They weren’t safe to leave on, so we came back to a cold house. They also kept turning themselves off while the rooms were still cold. The one that tripped the electricity was in the main hallway. Yes, it was on full, because it was 3 degrees outside and freezing when we arrived. You told us the boiler part was broken and promised it would be fixed. It wasn’t our fault that the part arrived late. We weren’t offered a full refund to cancel, only a postponement, which we couldn’t take because most of our group had only arranged time off work for those dates. It wasn’t fair to expect someone in our group to fix it on his holiday. We declined. If something had gone wrong, who would have been blamed? It also wasn’t as simple as leaving and driving home. We were five hours away and had already been told it would be fixed. An emergency plumber should have been called once you knew the part wasn’t arriving. Your reply was very unprofessional. Telling a customer to enjoy “whinging & crying” is disrespectful. You said you have good reviews, which is why we chose your place. Instead of being untruthful, please give a genuine apology, accept this was a bad experience, learn from it and move on. We went four days without hot water or heating, with a six-month-old baby, and that was completely unacceptable. It was 3 degrees. We were given plug-in heaters, but they weren’t safe to leave on, and one tripped the electricity on the first night. The boiler part had broken the day before we arrived and we were promised it would be fixed, but each day brought a different excuse. We were told to use the only electric shower, on the top floor, but had to top up the boiler to use it. With eight adults and three children sharing one shower, we had to wait around in the morning. The owner didn’t offer even a partial refund and seemed quite happy to take our money. The garden was poorly maintained too. Wobbly patio slabs were stacked as a doorstep, a pool table had been left outside to rot and bend in half, and seat cushions were scattered around the garden, wet and dirty. The kitchen door hinges had been oiled, but oil had dripped across the floor, making it a hazard for the baby and dogs.

Mark, the owner, is a lovely person, and this place would suit a family or a big group of 12-15 people. Great Western Beach is very close, and Aldi and Asda are nearby too.

The house was spotlessly clean and ideal for families, with lovely views of the surrounding area. The location is perfect, and Mark was fantastic, always there if we needed anything. Highly recommend a visit.
