The manager wouldn't speak to customers who had complaints. Also, members couldn't get their complimentary drinks because the offer was only for draft beers. If you don't drink alcohol, there were no bottled 0% beers or ciders, so the benefit was useless. The food needs a major hygiene overhaul. None of it seemed to be at the required temperature for serving or storage, in my view. The supposedly freshly cooked beans were mushy, and I suspect they were from the day before. The bacon was dry and hard, and the sausages were dry, as if they'd been boiled then reheated. The fresh eggs were only just above 50C. In my opinion, the food failed the food inspector's requirements miserably.

Check-in with Umar was easy, and William made checkout quick. We stayed overnight for a local event and found plenty of parking. The standard room had a comfortable bed, and the bathroom was generally good with Dove toiletries, though the shower area needs some care. Breakfast was grab-and-go while the area was being refurbished, with lots of variety. It was disappointing there was no hot food, but we had been told ahead of time that it would be back. Good hotel in a great location. We'll return once the breakfast area is sorted.

The staff were the best part of the hotel, so friendly and helpful. Everything else was great too, with amazing value and a perfect location for our needs. The issues that kept it from five stars were the hard mattress, which kept us awake, though that's subjective, limited room to store or manoeuvre a wheelchair in the accessible room, and lukewarm water in both the evening and morning. We changed to a room with a bath because we both have restless legs and find night-time baths help. Thank you.

The restaurant and bar have been cleared out, so a relaxing meal or drink means sitting by the cold door in the busy reception. There's no hot breakfast either, just grab-and-go. We were told at check-in that we could get a refund, but after going into the room to discuss things, we had to fight for a partial refund, even though we were meant to be enjoying a nice weekend away. Don't bother this December or until the refurbishment is finished. Not impressed at all. Avoid.
