We went on a busy Friday night and the service was quick, with staff who were really friendly and helpful. Prices felt reasonable for the area. The pub's large car park was nearly full when we arrived and full by the time we left, with plenty of cars also parked on nearby roads. The food was top quality and very enjoyable. This is a high-end food pub serving good-quality pub classics, more than a gastropub. We had battered haloumi to start, then I had the burger and my partner had the Shepards pie. We both had tart tatain for dessert.

I ate at The Bear and Ragged Staff while working in the area and came away impressed by the food. It was excellent, carefully prepared, well cooked, and nicely presented. The service was friendly and attentive, and kept a good pace even though I wasn't there for a long meal. It's on the pricier side, which feels pretty standard these days, but the portion, flavour, and experience made it seem like good value for the quality. A dependable place to eat, and I'd happily come back.

Room 5 was cosy, clean, warm, and welcoming, and we slept really well. The bathroom was spacious, with a good-pressure shower and plenty of hot water. We also made use of the free espresso machine and teas. We stayed one night for a rest after the busy festive period, and had lunch, dinner, and a prepaid breakfast. Everything we ate was delicious and beautifully presented. The service throughout was friendly and hospitable. We look forward to returning :)

Getting around is easiest by car. Oxford Park & Ride is a straightforward 10-minute drive, while public transport from the inn can be tricky, especially with the current road closure near the train station. The pub is a lovely place to relax over a drink after exploring, and the food and breakfasts were excellent. Staff were friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming throughout. The Bear and Ragged Staff has plenty of character, with beautiful old architecture and a warm pub atmosphere. Our room was spacious and cosy, and the bathroom was clean, modern, and well laid out, with a generous size for a pub room. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and bottled water were thoughtful extras. One small thing that could be improved: the TVs could connect to the internet for streaming services. We'd happily stay again and recommend it to anyone wanting a comfortable, character-filled place near Oxford.

My room was spacious, cosy, and tastefully designed, with a large, pristine bathroom. I appreciated the coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and bottled water in the room. The historic architecture is stunning, and the inviting atmosphere made me feel at home straight away. The staff were consistently warm, friendly, and attentive, and their hospitality really elevated the stay. The onsite dining was excellent, and the pub was a charming place to unwind with a drink after exploring Oxford or the countryside. I'd wholeheartedly recommend the Bear and Ragged Staff to anyone wanting a memorable stay near Oxford. I'll definitely return.
