Courtyard by Marriott Oxford City Centre

The bed was huge and really comfortable, the room was very clean and soundproof, and we couldn’t hear the road works or motorway outside. The bathroom had a shower and some lovely toiletries. We stayed in room 430 with my fiancee on 27/2/26 and had a fantastic night, thanks to the amazing staff. Joe at the front of house and Parry in the restaurant, I think, gave brilliant service. The dining area, restaurant and lobby were exceptionally clean and tidy. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. I had the chef’s special crispy chili chicken and my fiancee had chicken shawarma. Breakfast was a really good standard buffet, and they made a separate portion of scrambled egg for me to order because I can’t have dairy. The ingredients were really good quality. I can’t wait to book again and stay here.

The breakfast buffet was a notch above average, and the location was very handy for the city center and nearby Westfield mall. The rooms are large, huge by English standards, and many face the interior courtyard, which makes them quiet. The air con was excellent. It felt like a little bit of America in the Old Country, with Brits smiling, making eye contact and being cheerfully welcoming. That was a shock!

The rooms were comfortable and normal, and overall we had a good stay, but two things bothered us. We couldn’t turn off the TV and spent ages looking for the remote, only to discover there wasn’t one in the room, so we had to call reception. We also had to ask separately for slippers, which I think should be provided in advance at this kind of hotel. We planned to return in May, but the price had doubled compared with April. It seems quite overpriced now, especially since the hotel was still being renovated in April.

The room was clean, modern and well maintained, and Westgate Oxford is only a short walk away, with lots of shops and food options nearby. Service was excellent throughout. Everyone, from breakfast staff to reception, was friendly and professional. One afternoon, my child and I came back to rest in the lobby, where another guest was being quite loud. Without us even asking, a staff member offered us a meeting room so we could sit comfortably. That was impressive service, thank you. There was some renovation noise during the day, but the staff came over to apologise without us having to raise it. They showed real care and attention to detail. I’d definitely stay again if I get the chance.
