Comfort Rooms

I had a terrible stay. The shared kitchen and toilets felt like a bad arrangement during a global pandemic, especially as someone seemed to be living there. The toilet smelled of smoke, had cigarette butts in it and hadn't been flushed. There was spit in the sink, the towels reeked of smoke, and the place didn't look vacuumed. The milk cartons were so out of date they looked like cottage cheese. To top it off, the person who seemed to live there played loud music and woke me at 6:58 on a Sunday morning.

The bed had some bounce to it, but the rest was awful. The room was dusty, the bathroom dirty, and there was blood on the quilt under-cover. Mold was on the walls too. The person in the next room, who I won't say looked like Fred West, seemed to live there and was extremely noisy.

I never even got to stay. I paid for two nights, arrived to find nobody there, and couldn't reach anyone when I tried calling before booking. I booked through Expedia, then they charged me for the two nights again. My bank said they needed to cancel the transaction on their end, but they won't. Don't book with them. I'm alone in the middle of nowhere, freezing in my car after fleeing domestic abuse, overdrawn and unable to afford food tonight. Thank you, comfort rooms.

PATH, a charity, booked me in for one night, and carol was very helpful when I called to get in. The bed was comfy, the room was nice, and I had a good soak in the bath. There was plenty of food, and the other guests were friendly. It was a bit cold, though, and I couldn't get the heater working. Apart from that, I can't fault it. I hope PATH or our council books me here again.
