Fir Tree Barn

We upgraded to a king size room and it was really spacious. A very nice stopover, with a great range at the self service breakfast, including fresh fruit salad, eggs and pastries. Secure parking was a welcome bonus.

We'd definitely stay here again when we're in the area. It's handy for the motorways and close to Castleford for the ski slope and outlet shopping. The B&B and the surrounding area were both quiet, and the host was friendly and quick to respond. The room was very comfortable and immaculately clean. Help yourself to a plentiful continental breakfast, and there's also a kitchen if you'd rather make dinner in. A good choice for a short visit or a longer stay.

Pollington is such a peaceful, sweet town that it's become my favourite place in England. The owner was kind and welcoming, and Iain helped us settle in. Our room was spotless and orderly, the bed was comfortable, and I've never seen a bathtub so clean. Breakfast was amazing, with so many self serve options that I couldn't decide what to have, including fresh eggs to cook. The laundry room was a huge help too. It's pay as you use, but reasonably priced, and this was the only place on our trip that offered it. Parking was good and in a protected area. They also provide a fan, hairdryer and toiletries. The only things I missed were a box of Kleenex and maybe some lotion for the ladies. About 12 miles away in Howden, there's a Chinese restaurant with fantastic food and a view of Howden Minster right in front. Don't miss this lovely place, you won't be disappointed!

The breakfast had a great selection, and there's a pub not far away for a meal. Very nice room.
