Travelodge Portsmouth Hilsea

The walls are paper thin, the place felt unsafe because of other strange guests, and even my work colleagues had the same bad impression. I had a terrible stay. The room was dirty, with mouldy taps and a shower head, broken appliances, and plugs and locks that didn’t work. Cold air came through the window, while the heater in every room didn’t work either. The staff were unhelpful, and the WiFi cost extra but barely worked even after I paid. One of the worst places I’ve ever stayed. Don’t stay here.

The bed and chair were comfortable, and the room was a decent size, but the noise made it impossible to rest. I heard the woman next door talking on the phone and could even make out the other person’s replies. Doors slammed, and I could hear light switches and toilets flushing in adjoining rooms. People came back noisily at all hours, so I got no more than two hours’ sleep. The bathroom wasn’t clean either: gritty grey dust covered the floor, and the sink was dirty or stained. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Really comfortable bed, and the room had a TV and everything for making tea.

For the price, I can’t complain. The room was quiet, the bed was good, and the shower worked well. Check-in was quick, parking was free with no booking needed, and there are places to eat and drink just around the corner.
