The room worked fine as a cheap place to sleep and shower during Reading Festival, and it was about a 30-minute walk from the festival. Check-in was quick and professional, and our room had clean bedding and towels. It was also reasonably priced for a last-minute booking a week before the event. Some parts of the building looked worn, with holes in the halls and cracked plaster. The bathroom was clean, but the half roll of toilet paper ran out on the first night. We asked the front desk to leave more while we were out at the festival. When we got back around midnight, none had been brought, which left us in a difficult spot. We got through the night and checked out the next morning. If you just need a basic place to leave your things and sleep while visiting Reading, it was okay. For more time in the room, I’d pay extra and stay elsewhere.

I couldn't afford an expensive hotel, but I still expected a usable shower and working appliances. The shower was so hot that I couldn't regulate the temperature, and after I started washing my hair I found the hairdryer was broken. I ended up with wet hair in a cold room. A really bad experience.

The room turned out to be clean, with a comfy bed and a small but modern bathroom where everything worked. We also had a kettle, mugs, tea, coffee and milk. The staff were really nice, and I was happy leaving my car there all weekend because it felt safe. There was only one plug socket, though. I booked in a panic for Reading Festival because I didn't want to camp and other places were twice the price. The reviews had made me nervous, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'd definitely stay again for the festival weekend.

The staff were really friendly. The room wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst either.

The bed was really uncomfortable, the hotel was disgusting, and I’d avoid it at all costs. The shower swung between red hot and freezing cold, and there was no TV remote. Charging £5 a day for room service is cheeky. I work as a contractor and have stayed in plenty of bad hotels and B&Bs, but I’d spend a little more for a decent room.
