The restaurant was quiet, and we had a lovely afternoon. The man looking after us was really nice and checked that we were happy with everything. We had plenty of sandwiches, cakes, savory bites, scones with jam and clotted cream, plus as much coffee as we wanted, although there wasn't any tea. There was so much food that we left with a goody bag. It was very good value. There were also beautiful, interesting things from years ago, including the fireplace, stonework, and doors. We weren't residents, so couldn't rate the rooms. Thank you for a lovely afternoon with my friend.

I've stayed here several times and have always been very satisfied. This time we got a free upgrade, with a spacious room, a large king-size bed, a wonderfully comfortable mattress, and a big bathtub. The only small downside was that this room didn't have Netflix like other rooms I've stayed in, but it didn't affect our great experience.

The rooms were warm and very nice, and the hotel is right in the middle of town, which is convenient. The people running it made the place special. Nothing seemed like too much trouble. Definitely a great place to stay!

The room was nothing like we'd expected. We were in room 2, where the sink and dressing table were cracked, the shower area was mouldy, and the room was freezing. The door only shut if we pushed it, while the bathroom door slammed heavily. It seemed odd that the bathroom door would be the fire door rather than the main room door. The fire exit door used for 24/7 access was broken and wouldn't close, so I immediately felt unsafe. We could hear people having sex around 3am and again around 8am. I don't begrudge anyone having a good time, but you can hear everything. We'd booked two nights, but felt uneasy and unsafe, so left a day early. We also noticed a strip club right outside when checking out. We chose the hotel because the website looked lovely and it had a level 5 food hygiene rating. That was where the good stopped. When we arrived at 6pm, we were the only guests there, and nobody was in the restaurant. The man at reception seemed nice. We told him we'd be out for the night and back around 2am, and he explained the 24/7 access and gave us a key with the room. The place felt more like a brothel than a boutique hotel.

Everything was about 20 minutes away, including the Crucible. The place is fantastic, with a great room, lovely owners, and a nice central location. There's a bar, food, and late-night access. When I asked for an iron, it arrived in under five minutes, and they brought a bottle of water when I asked for one. Check-out at 11am meant we didn't have to rush. We will definitely be back. Love it.
