Luccombe Manor Country House Hotel

Breakfast was really good and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room had a full sea view, which was amazing even with the wind while we were there. The evening meal was a bit hit or miss.

We spent Monday to Friday over New Year here with our Jack Russell terrier, and it really is a dog friendly hotel. The views across the channel are spectacular, and the location is lovely. Service went above and beyond, with nothing seeming like too much trouble. Breakfast had a varied cold buffet as well as cooked options, and lunch was available too. We ate dinner next door at Luccombe Hall, where dogs could come along. There are extensive facilities indoors and outside for the whole family, dogs included. Thoroughly recommend it.

The room corridors felt like a labyrinth, and there was no clear sense of where to go. After a tiring day at work, I was unhappy to have to walk to another hotel to collect my 'room service'. With half an hour to wait, I ordered a drink at the bar, but was told I couldn’t sit at the window with the sea view because a restaurant worker was 'No... Doing restaurant floor plan, please!!' I felt like a complete inconvenience, so I sat alone in the very dark bar area. The swimming pool was being renovated, which is fair enough out of season, but the place still felt really unwelcoming, especially after the restaurant staff interaction. The foreign restaurant worker was hostile and rude. I won’t stay here again, and I won’t recommend this hotel to my corporate travel team.

We’ve already booked another visit, five nights in the apartments for New Year. Our long weekend in October (2025) with our five month old puppy Esme was wonderful, especially as we’d never taken a doggy holiday before. The hotel is right beside a lovely sandy break and the famous Chine attraction, a 5/5 location. We had a sea view room with breathtaking views, comfortable beds and a smart TV, so you don’t miss your favourite shows. Breakfast had loads of options, dinner was delicious, and Esme sat beside us at every meal. She even got sausages for breaky and a lovely doggy afternoon tea. Brook at front of house and Kras in hospitality were amazing with her, giving her lots of fuss and care. We met one of the Directors, Steve, on the first day, and talking with him made clear how much thought goes into each dog’s visit. It felt like a dog hotel where humans are welcome too. Thanks, we can’t wait to return.
