Royal York and Faulkner Hotel

The beach is right across from the hotel, which added to the magic. I felt very spoilt, and had a wonderful time. The bedrooms and sitting rooms are well appointed, the food is fresh and nicely cooked, and Rachel and the rest of the staff couldn’t do enough for us. What a stunning hotel. Sublime.

The room was comfortable, although the floor had some odd hills and valleys. Nice people and good food. I’d certainly come again.

The staff were friendly and keen to help guests or sort out problems, and the restaurant food was good, served to a silver service standard. Our room, Nr.34, was comfortable, though the floor undulates and the changes in level make moving around a little interesting. It’s an older, historic building, and the hotel doesn’t pretend to be anything else. It makes an ideal base for Sidmouth, with its seafront location a real plus for many visitors. We didn’t have time to see all of Sidmouth, and if we get the chance to return, we’ll be very disappointed if we can’t stay at the Royal York & Faulkner again.

We’ve been coming here for at least 25 years, and it’s our happy place. Parking has never been an issue. The staff are always cheerful, helpful and professional, and there’s plenty of choice on the menu with delicious food. We also enjoy afternoon tea and cakes. It arrives on a lovely tray, and we can pick from a selection of cakes or have a cream scone. The location is just right for us, especially when we book a room with a sea view. It’s always a winner.
