Breakfast was £20 extra and excellent. The hotel has beautiful architectural details, old-school charm and lots of communal seating on luxury sofas. The staff were exemplary. We had a partial sea view from our twin room, though it was tiny.

We started with drinks in the lounge, then moved to the dining room, where the meal was amazing. The choices were unusual and the flavours delicious. It was a special birthday lunch with a small family group, and the friendly, efficient staff made it a lovely occasion. The hotel is beautiful and in a lovely location. I almost wished we could stay for dinner too. Staying here must be a treat, so it's going on my list of places to stay.

Sundown over Sidmouth, a cold glass of Ayala and a cream tea on the terrace, hard to beat. Deputy Manager Duncan and bar staff Luke gave impeccable service. We were also treated to complimentary canapés, usually something for residents. A real treat and a great start to Saturday night.

Sadie gave me the most amazing facial during my wonderful spa day at The Victoria. She was lovely, really professional and knowledgeable, and shared lots of skincare advice. It was so relaxing I didn't want it to end. Thank you!

The staff gave us everything we needed and offered fresh towels whenever required. They also explained where to go for the different pools and places to relax, which made the spa afternoon package at Source Spa easy to enjoy. It wasn't too busy, so we had time to try the different rooms and pools at our own pace. Sadie gave me a brilliant treatment and was calming and friendly. I came out feeling much more relaxed than when I arrived. The cream tea was fantastic too, a lovely way to finish. I'd definitely recommend a spa day or afternoon if you want a break from everyday life.
