Room 7 opens straight onto the car park, which was really handy when we stayed on 14 Feb 2026. The refurbished room was cosy and comfortable, and reception were friendly. We only needed somewhere to sleep away from a family floor, and this was much nicer. It’ll feel more complete once the pub and restaurant reopen in March.

We sat outside and had a beautiful view of the Yorkshire countryside. The staff and owner were friendly, and I had a chat with the cook, who seemed very capable. Our Sunday meal was hearty, with good quality food and generous portions. A local ale went down nicely with it. It was a pleasant experience.

The beef stew was a 10/10, and the girls serving us gave great service. We’d heard the place had just reopened, so we decided to try it and were glad we did. The little dog there made the evening, too. Thanks to everyone for a lovely meal. We’ll definitely be back.

We had an excellent, tasty Sunday lunch today, plus homemade steak pie with a choice of vegetables or chips. Everything was homemade, and the vegetables were fresh. They asked whether we wanted gravy on the side in a jug or poured over, which is always a nice touch. We were too full for dessert, but they looked good. The ladies serving were welcoming and friendly. It’s great to see the craven heifer up and running again. There’s also a garden centre section and gift shops to look around. It gets 10/10 from me. The front looks a bit tatty from the roadside, but don’t let that put you off, it’s lovely inside. The owners are doing their best, and improvements take time and money.

After a family event, we ate at the pub and really enjoyed it. The food and service were great, and the atmosphere was lovely. We’d definitely recommend it.
