The breakfast was lovely and there was plenty of it, and we enjoyed a few drinks in the bar. A pint and a glass of wine came to about £8.50, I think, and the regulars made us feel welcome. We were staying as a group for a wedding at the South Causey Inn. The B&B looks a little plain from outside, but don’t let that put you off. Inside, the traditional rooms were well equipped, with comfy beds, spare pillows, plenty of tea and coffee, thick fluffy towels and little toiletries. Every bedroom had a smart TV, and there’s a shared kitchen if you need it. Thanks to everyone at Ball Alley!!

Staff were warm, friendly and helpful, and breakfast was tasty with a generous amount. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with good supplies of tea, coffee, sugar and milk. We didn’t have an en-suite and had to share a bathroom, though towels and toiletries were provided. Would recommend.

The beds are seriously comfy, and there’s a little kitchen upstairs for guests. I stayed a few nights and got the nicest northern welcome. Stones bitter on draught too! It’s close to Stanley bus station, with a 24-hour petrol station across the road. Next time I’ll ask if I can take breakfast to my room. Can’t wait to come back. The mystery man in room 2

Lyndsay made our one-night wedding stay feel so easy, she was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was fantastic, and the immaculate room had an extremely comfortable bed. Such a lovely, welcoming B&B. Wish we’d had longer there!

We were working nearby for the night and stopped in for a few drinks. The locals, bar staff and landlady all made us feel welcome, and everyone was lovely and helpful. They let us order food to the pub, found us plugs to charge my phone and put the footie on. Nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend.
