We loved Burleigh Court's setting, with splendid views and lovely walks around it. Stroud is a favourite of ours, and we walked through the Village of Minchinhampton to Amberley, finishing at The Rodborough and treating ourselves to Winston’s yummy ice cream nearby. The weather was mixed, but we still managed a couple of great walks. It was too chilly for the outdoor spa, though I imagine it'd be lovely in better weather. Our room had great decor and views from its double aspect windows. The linen, towels and toiletries were luxurious. The only little gripe was the mugs, which were very stained, so we didn't use them. Maybe they need replacing or a turn in the dishwasher. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and beautifully presented, and the bar drinks were great too. The barman was helpful, and the staff were friendly and faultless. James, the owner, took time to chat with guests over dinner, which I hadn't experienced before and really appreciated. We enjoyed drinks in the peaceful setting and plan to return.

We went for afternoon tea to celebrate our Mum’s 60th, and the team helped make it really special. Every staff member made us feel valued and looked after, even though we weren't staying at the hotel. The tea itself was delightful. The grounds are extraordinarily beautiful, and the rolling hills around the property made it feel so calming. It was fully booked for tea and lunch, but still didn't feel crowded. They deliberately limit the number of people there, so at no point did it feel too busy. The photos and videos say it all. A must visit in the Cotswolds!

Our room overlooked the valley, such a refreshing and relaxing view. We came for two nights to celebrate Chinese New Year and were pleasantly surprised to get an upgrade when we arrived. The hotel is beautiful and cosy, and the staff were warm, welcoming and professional. You can feel how much pride and passion they have for their work. Breakfast was generous and delicious. The lady in charge of the breakfast restaurant was especially kind and friendly, which quickly shook off the tiredness of an early morning. It was a unique, really enjoyable stay.

The lodge had loads of equipment, and it was nice to have enough room for us and the teenage kids to spread out. We stayed in the self catering lodge on the hotel grounds, with great views, though we only had one sunny day to enjoy them properly. Heating the wood fired hot tub took longer than we'd expected, but we should have guessed with ice on the cover. Once it was hot, sitting in it and star gazing was lovely. It was too cold and wet to make use of the decking and seats. We had a lovely dinner at the hotel one night and popped over for drinks another evening. The hotel is up a fairly windy hill. With the weather as it was, we didn't explore the area on foot, but drove to Gloucester, Stroud and Westonbirt Arboretum. Since we were self catering, we didn't see much of the staff, but everyone we did meet was polite and helpful.

The outdoor area has been thought through so nicely, from the chalet-style building with fur throws to the wellness area with its pool, jacuzzi, sauna and massage hut. The views from the front of the hotel are fabulous, and I can imagine sitting there with a nice drink would be very romantic. We had a wonderful two-night stay at this gorgeous hotel, decorated beautifully for Christmas. We were welcomed warmly as soon as we arrived, and our stunning room was upgraded without us even asking. The food was amazing and well deserving of their rosettes. Everyone on staff was friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and professional. They seemed genuinely happy, and made us feel like part of the family, which is rare these days. A really special place, highly recommended!
