Matara Lodge

I photographed a wedding at the Matara Centre recently, and the calm, zen atmosphere was amazing. It's a peaceful, magical place, surrounded by nature, with lovely gardens and little tucked-away corners. Everywhere you look is photogenic. The team were lovely to work with, and the whole day felt relaxed. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

The stone-baked pizza they kindly gave us for lunch was incredible, and the team at the Matara centre took such good care of me. I've been on lots of styled shoots, and none of them have looked after me as well. It's a beautiful setting with a really caring team. I'm so glad I got to spend the day there and hope we can work together again. Couples looking for a venue for their special day should definitely consider it. It's magical.

Our wedding here a few days ago was absolutely perfect. The grounds are spectacular, and the house is amazing. There are great zen rooms, plus the dining room and dance floor can handle 150+ easily. The rooms and open spaces around it were a real bonus. Abbie and Liz planned everything over several months and ran the day wonderfully. Luke and his kitchen team nailed the food, and the many other staff patiently served food and drink to our many guests. Geoffrey the owner came to say hello the day before. Thanks again to everyone.

The bride and groom chose this place because it offered more than the usual converted barn venues, and they were right. People were saying positive things all day. The 30 acres near Tetbury have lovely walks and smaller gardens that make great backdrops and opportunities for photos. Staff were friendly and the food was excellent. There was fake snow beside one of the Japanese-style pools, then sparklers, followed by pizzas made to order by the head chef. They apparently host things besides weddings too, so it's well worth considering.
