The welcome from the staff was warm and friendly, though when we arrived the atmosphere felt a bit odd. It’s clearly a local pub, and we felt like we might be intruding on the regulars. We were staying at an Airbnb down the road and booked dinner here. It was proper pub grub, the sort of food not many pubs serve these days, with a good main menu and some great specials. I had the surf and turf and asked for the steak medium rare. It was cooked perfectly. The garlic prawns didn’t have much taste, but I hadn’t expected them to, as they were clearly frozen. The proper homemade fat chips were delicious.

We came with family and friends for Mother’s Day. The staff were friendly, the regulars welcoming, and the food delicious. We’ll definitely be back.

The staff were nice and helpful, and our clean room had comfortable beds. There was a drain smell in the bathroom, though, and every flush made the water rise to the top, so there was clearly some kind of blockage. There’s nowhere to park, and music could be heard late, until around 11:30 or midnight. Apart from that, it was pretty decent.

This is my favourite pub in the whole country. The atmosphere and staff are great, the food is good and wholesome, and they keep the beer particularly well.
