The Haytor Hotel

Breakfast was amazing, with a huge choice of freshly cooked, piping hot dishes made to order. John and Jane were so welcoming and friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. Tea and cake on arrival was a lovely touch. We’ve just returned from one night at the Haytor Hotel and couldn’t have been more impressed. It’s beautiful, with stunning gardens, and was spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained. The relaxing atmosphere was just what we needed. We’d absolutely recommend it, and if we visit Torquay again, the Haytor will be our hotel of choice. Thank you, John and Jane, for a fantastic stay.

We had a lovely stay and can’t praise the hosts enough. Nothing was too much trouble, and the breakfast was one of the best we’ve had. I’d recommend staying here to anyone.

The location and parking were good, and we’d happily stay with John and Jane again. They made us feel very welcome, with coffee and cake on arrival. Our room had lovely furniture, tasteful decor, nice bedding and plush carpets throughout. The en suite was good too and cleaned to a high standard. John served the full English, cooked by Jane, and there was a large choice of alternatives on the menu. We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this hotel. Thank you both, De & Neil. 🤗

We booked Room 8, one of the suites, for our two-week stay and really appreciated the extra space and comfort. The superking bed was amazing and so comfortable. Jane cooked breakfast to perfection, and John’s table service was friendly and efficient, however busy they were. They looked after us so well, and nothing was too much trouble. With only 12 bedrooms, John and Jane can give guests a really friendly, personal service. The hotel and its staff kept everything absolutely spotless. We loved the decor, our room, the garden and terrace. The Haytor is a five-minute walk from the busy harbour, with lots of superb restaurants close by and within easy walking distance. We loved Torquay and used it as a base to explore the wider area. We filled our two weeks in South Devon with so much to do. We chatted with lots of friendly guests, and they were all returning visitors who’d been coming for years because they love it. We live so far away that we can’t make the Haytor a regular bolt hole, but we’d absolutely come back if we lived nearer. This is hands down the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in.
