The Sunfold

Lovely place, and Steve gave us a brilliant welcome. Everything else was great, but the noise upstairs kept waking me. I could hear people walking around from 11:30pm until 10am, then the TV, and I was woken every hour. We'd only come back if we could stay on the top floor. Soundproofing the floors might help.

For the price and location, it's decent as a base for exploring, and the host was lovely. But I have back pain and the bed and pillows made it worse over the few nights we stayed. The pillows were terribly flat, and we could often hear the people next door. They'd provided a fan, which I appreciated, but it was covered in dust and my partner had to clean it thoroughly because I'm asthmatic.

We had a wonderful stay at Sunfold Hotel, and otherwise I can't fault it. The downside was the family above us. Their child kept jumping and thumping on the floor, and the parents walked around heavily and constantly. It was very loud.

Steve was friendly and helpful, and the room had everything we needed for our two-night stay. The Sunfold is a lovely Victorian house, I think, with high ceilings and details and character you don't get in modern newbuilds. Our girls were fascinated by all the things from bygone eras in the lounge, like the gramophone and pram. After a long day the stairs felt like climbing Everest, though that's not really a complaint, just something to mention. Lovely people, a great location, and we'd recommend it and return.
